BANK ROBBER CAUGHT WITH
TWO OTHERS
NEW YORK, February 25.
At Armonk, New York, Merle Vandenbush, an ex-convict and bank robber who has been dubbed "Public Rat No. 1," and two confederates, were captured a few minutes after they had robbed a nearby ■ bank and escaped with 17,600' dollars. He had been widely sought by Federal agents in connection with a kidnapping, at New Jersey. He was ignominiously trapped in the baggage compartment of an automobile. Three village policemen who took him into custody at first were unfamiliar with his identity.
