RUGBY, February 26. The Richmond by-election resulted as follows:—-

Major Harvie Watt (Con.) 20,546 Mr. Rogers (Lab.) 7,709

Owing probably to inclement weather, only about 45 per cent, of the electors recorded their votes. : At the General Election the Conservatives . polled 30,433 votes and Labour 10,953. ;

The by-election was necessitated by the- resignation of Sir Walter Ray on account of ill health..
