CHALLENGE TO BUILDERS

TIMARU, February 26.
"Those responsible for passing those resolutions were people with biased .minds," declared the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), in an interview today in reply to criticism of the Government's housing scheme which was made at the" New Zealand Builders' Federation conference in Timaru. "Some people say that the contracts were let too high. Let any man come forward who can do it for less and we will deal with him. We. want houses now and we won't wait ten years for them. There is no reason for holding the thing up. Any builder who will do the job in any locality where sections have been acquired and can do it at less than the contract price will get it, even if it is only one house. We want all builders to be working and we don't want politics to get in the way."
