The most ambitious movement for a wage advance in the history of collective bargaining occurred . when the chairmen of 16 railway unions with a membership of 1,100,000 agreed to demand an increase of 20 cents an hour for all employees. Coupled with the recent 20 per cent, increase demanded by several other railway unions, this would total 260,000,000 dollars annually.
