PLUMBERS' CONFERENCE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
WANGANUI, This Day.
A remit which gave rise to a long discussion at the meeting of the Plumbers' Conference was introduced by Dunedin. Although it appeared that in a few centres in New Zealand relationships ' between merchants and master plumbers were most happy, strong condemnation of the attitude of a few merchants was expressed. In view of the increased strength of the federation it was decided that the present time was most opportune for local associations to embark on a policy of more direct action in regard to negotiations with plumbers' and builders' supply merchants than had obtained in recent years. Three or four alternative schemes were submitted to the conference. A strong committee of members of the Wellington Association will be appointed at an early date to carry on negotiations with merchants throughout New Zealand, or recommend alternative courses to the local associations.
