LAST WEEK'S INVESTMENTS Except for a strong wind, the weather was near ideal for the conclusion of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting on Saturday. The track was fast, and there was another excellent attendance, the public betting freely despite a big reverse in the opening race. The investments for the day amounted to £69,223 (£30,471 win, £38,752 place), as against £48,827 (£21,479 10s win. £27,347 10s place) on the final day last year. For the meeting the turnover was £188,825 10s (£81,539 10s win, £107,286 place), compared with £117,766 last year (when the Anniversary holiday was lost through postponement), an increase of £71,059 10s.
