CRASH INTO POLE FIVE PERSONS INJURED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, January 24. Five people were admitted to hospital last evening as the result of a car crashing into a wooden telegraph pole at the top of Elevation Hill, near Picton. The party was returning from the Marlborough Inter-club Regatta at Picton and comprised Messrs. A. R. J. Morrison (driver), J. N. Morrison, H. F. Ching, B. Patchett. and a lad, Herbert Doggett, all of Blenheim. Mr. A. R. J. Morrison received deep lacerations of the face and was unconscious, for several hours. He also fractured his right forearm. Mr. Patchett's left knee was dislocated, and he also received abrasions and shock. The other three passengers escaped with a heavy shaking and a few cuts and bruises, and were allowed to return home today. The accident occurred through a tyre bursting, causing the car to slew to the side, where it collided with terrific force with the post, which was knocked over to one side. Several telephone wires connecting Blenheim and Picton were severed. The car was completely wrecked.
