OBITUARY
MRS. JAMES TRACT,
The death of Mrs. Tracy, wife of Mr. James Tracy, Cargill Street, Karori, occurred yesterday afternoon after a short illness. Mrs. Tracy, who was 70 years of age, is survived by her husband and three sons, Mr. W. F. Tracy, solicitor, Christchurch; Mr. J. G. Tracy, Upper Hutt; and Mr. L. A. Tracy, Wellington, who has been well known in amateur athletic circles for many years. USEFUL HESSIAN If housewives used hessian in the home, they would find that it is a great boon in many ways. Here are a few uses to which it can be put—For earlymorning work, make overalls of hessian and bind them with coloured cottons. Hessian dipped in soap water, wrung out tightly, and applied briskly to linoleum, followed by the application of a soft, clean cloth, makes floors shine with half the usual labour. A piece of hessian, 27 x 12 inches, run round the raw edges several times with the machinc is all that is required. Dish-cloths made in the same way arc excellent, for they take the place of scrubbing brushes, and a piece kept for washing vegetables saves time and labour.
