HAWKE CUP MATCH
MANAWATU GOING WELL (By Teiojji'.'ipli.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. Fortunes fluctuated in the Hawke Cup challenge match by Wairarapa against Manawatu. Yesterday Manawatu, from six wickets for 77 at lunch, carried their score to 179 (Robertson 23, Gallichan 52, Pritchard 53). Brice took three wickets for 21, Massey three for 54, Patrick one for'll, M. Pool two for 31, and Groves one for 39. Wairarapa made a disastrous start, losing five wickets for 11 runs. Nine were down for 52, but the last pair put on 55, the total being 107 (Hill not out 45, M. Pool 14, J. E. Pool 21). Pritchard took three wickets for 13, Gallichan three for 48, and Moloney three for 31. The match was continued this morning, and at lunch, Manawatu in their second innings had 122 runs for two wickets (McVicar 35, Robertson 25, Moloney not out 40, Cutler not out 16).
