WANGANUI HOSPITAL

PLANS FOR EXTENSIONS

WANGANUI, January 21,

It was decided at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board today, on the recommendation of the Department of Health, to employ a New Plymouth' firm of architects, Messenger, Taylor, and Wolf, for the preparation of plans and specifications for a new isolation block. An amendment that applications be called was lost. A clerk of works to supervise the construction of the buildings is to be appointed. Mr. E. A. Marchant, Wanganui, was instructed to mqke the survey necessary. It was also decided to apply for a loan of £16,000 for a block which is to include an ambulance station. A motion was passed authorising the hospital staff to use the prefix Mr.,. Mrs., or Miss when addressing patients. For the year ended December 31, 1936, it was reported that the St. John Free Ambulance handled 820 cases and travelled a total distance of 10,275 miles.
