NELSON NEWS

(From "The Post's" Representative.) NELSON, January 21.

The Nelson golf links are at present in excellent order, and many members

and visitors are enjoying "summer" golf. This is the first year that the links have been kept up during the summer, and with the unusual amount of rain recently the condition of the course is better than it has been in the winter. The Round Pond at .Tahuna is bo ing well patronised by small children, with and without sailing craft. It i» proving to be a wonderful acquisition, for it is also quite safe for bathing for the small fry. The warmer weather is attracting crowds to the lovely Tahuna beach, and during last weekend the accommodation was fully taxed. All seasons seem to be the season, for "five o'clock parties," and many have been given recently. A very delightful one was given last week by Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Leggatt, Richmond Avenue. The afternoon, wa* cloudless and still, and the guests much enjoyed the cool of the charming garden. Some of those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. Leggatt, Mr." and Mrs. C. R. Fell, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Airey, and Dr. and Mrs. Jamieson. Nelson and Blenheim people are looking forward to a visit from Mrs. T. H. Lowry, Dominion President of the New Zealand Red Cross' Society, and of Sister Springer, the recently appointed organiser for the juniors of the Red Cross Society. There has been a satisfactory amalgamation of interests between the St John Ambulance Brigade and the Red Cross, and the two visitors will speak at meetings to be arranged, and tell a greal deal that is most interesting about the ! work. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rout have re- ■ turned to Nelson from the French Pass. Mr. and Mrs. S. Natusch, Welling- > ton, are staying with Mrs. C. Y. Fell. | Mr. and Mrs. Noel Adams, Auckland, : are spending a few days with Mrs. P. ' B. Adams, "Melrose." Mrs. S. A. Lucas, who is to be married to Miss Joan Sladden, younger daughter 'of Mr. and Mrs. I* C. Sladden, early next month.
