CONVERTED CAR

OFFENDER SENT TO GAOL | OWNER'S MISFORTUNE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, January 4. In the Magistrate's Court today Lloyd Thomas Sims was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car, with unlawfully converting the car to his own use, and with being an unlicensed driver. The police stated that the intoxication charge was only a borderline case, but the conversion offence was serious, as the car had been wrecked in an accident while being driven by the accused, and the owner would be unable to obtain any insurance. On the conversion charge the accused was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, and on the intoxication charge he was ordered to pay medical expenses of one guinea. On the third charge he was convicted and discharged.
