The "London Gazette" has notified the award of the Military Cross to Lieutenant C. W. Pearson, Ist Battalion 12th Frontier Force Regiment. "On the night of May 4-5, when the Belgian Legation at Addis Ababa was besieged and heavily attacked," it is stated, "Lieutenant Pearson was dispatched in command of a small force from the guard of the British Legation to relieve and occupy the Belgian Legation. The success of the mission, which not only saved the Legation 'and defenders but re-established the security of the Legation area, was greatly due to the rapid organisation, leadership, and skill ol Lieutenant Pearson."
