PILOT'S ESCAPE

'PLANE CRASHES INTO HOUSE WASHINGTON, January 2. A pilot made a forced parachute jump from an army aeroplane which crashed in the village of Bellmore, Long Island, before dawn, cutting electric lines and leaving the village in darkness. The aeroplane struck a twostorey house occupied by eight children and their parents, injuring three children slightly. The pilot landed safely.
