MOUNTAIN TRAVERSE.—A successful climb of Mounts Wilczck and Elic de Beaumont was made during the Christmas holidays by Messrs. D. A. Carty, of the New Zealand. Alpine Club, and J. Cox and G. Somerville, two guides. The traverse, the first, made, teas from the west, and Wilczck has been climbed only once before. The photograph shows the two peaks from Docherty's Creek, south of Franz Josef.
