There is great excitement in tha French Parliament owing to the long duel between the Government and the Senate reaching a climax over financial issues. t It is possible that the Senate may decide lo defeat the Government, in« volving its resignation. The usual farce of stopping tha clocks at midnight as a pretence that the Budget was passed in 1936 was adopted by both Houses, but tha deadlock is unsolved. The Senate will resume this afternoon lo consider modifications in the Budget made by the Chamber <J Deputies.
