GERMANY'S STRUGGLE
ECONOMIC BONDS FREEDOM IN FOUR YEARS BERLIN, January 1. Hon- Hitler, Fuhrer and Chancellor, in a Now Year message to the Nazi Party, declares: — "The year 1937 will find us more determined than ever to take up anew the gigantic struggle for the nation's economic existence. The nation, freed from the political fetters of Versailles, will, within the next four years, rid itself- of economic bonds. The building up of the army will give Germany strength to assert herself before a world which at present is unprecedently menaced by grave international dangers." Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, in a broadcast message, emphasised that Germany's chief task in 1937 will be in connection with the four-year plan and the fight against Communism. A decree forbids the use of stainless steel in the manufacture of tramcars, cycles, sports articles, machinery, spoons, and forks for internal use.
