VOLUNTEERS QUESTION WILLING TO CONSIDER BAN DEMANDED ON FUNDS TO MADRID (United Press Association- By Electric Telauntph—Cop.yricht.) (Received January 2, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 1. ' Lord Plymouth, chairman of the International Non-Intervention in Spain Committee, has received a memorandum from the Italian Embassy indicating the Italian standpoint on volunteers. It is not Italy's reply to the Anglo-French request regarding cessation of the flow of volunteers to Spain. The Note says that Italy is willing to give the question of volunteers priority, provided others aspects of "indirect intervention" are considered by the London committee. Further paragraphs in the memorandum demand a ban on financial assistance to Spain, including not only Government credits, but loans from private banks and individuals. All subscriptions to Spain should pass through the International Red Cross organisation. Measures should also be taken to prevent the Spanish Government using gold deposited abroad to further its military aims.
