OBITUARY
SIR GRAFTON ELLIOT SMITH (Received January 2, noon.) LONDON, January 1. The death has occurred of Sir Grafton Elliot Smith, Professor of Anatomy in the London University. Sir Grafton Elliot Smith was born at Grafton, New South Wales, in 1871, and was educated at the Sydney and Cambridge Universities. He was a prominent figure in medicine and science and published several books on evolution and Egyptology. BUSINESS MAivTS COLLAPSE (Received January 2, 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr. J. Gi Chidgey, general manager of a fresh food and ice company, collapsed and died last night while walking up the gangway of the Awatea, on which he was to have sailed for New Zealand on a business trip.
