OCCASIONAL SHOWERS Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate to fresh north-westerly winds changing temporarily to southerly. Weather for the most part fair to cloudy with an occasional shower possible. The forecast for the whole Dominion, issued at noon today, is for southwesterly winds north of Kawhia and East Cape; elsewhere variable, but mainly between westerly and southwesterly. Force will be light to moderate, but strong in parts of the Cook Strait area. The weather will be mainly fair to cloudy at first, but showers or misty rain are probable in isolated places. Later, however, unsettled conditions and more general rain will set in. Undei the influence of a shallow depression which lay to the west, and which since fast night has been crossI ing the Dominion, the weather during [Thursday and Friday was cloudy to overcast generally with much mist or fog in places. Rain fell at times in most parts of the country. Friday was a particularly dull wet day though conditions were very warm and muggy with light winds between northeasterly and northerly predominating. This morning it was still mostly cloudy, and a few places reported showers. An improvement was in evidence in most districts, and in the far north southerly breezes were prevailing. At Auckland on Thursday the weather was dull and wet. Rain fell most of the day with a north-easterly breeze. Friday also was overcast, misty, and w§Jt t but it cleared in the night, and this morning was fine with a south-westerly breeze. Wellington had dull weather on Thursday with a slight easterly wind. On Friday it was very warm and muggy. The morning was dull and misty with drizzling rain at times, but it brightened somewhat in the afternoon, the sun breaking through at intervals. There was little wind, and two points of rain fell. The sunshine was 1.1 hours. At Christchurch on Thursday there was an occasional light misty rain and a strong east-north-easterly wind. There were 19 points of rain. Friday was a calm, dull day with occasional light rain. At 9 a.m. today a southwesterly breeze was blowing and overcast conditions were reported. The weather at Dunedin on Thursday was fine until the later part of the afternoon, when it became dull with misty rain, and a fresh northerly wind prevailed. Friday was foggy, misty, and wet.
