Heavy rain fell after the last ra Tlie Tattersall's Club' Cup was won meritoriously by the Queenslander Auto Buz, who was due for a win. Mananui and Loud Applause, who filled the places, each made a determined bid for victory, but the winner was going away at the finish. The Limond colt Birthday Boy won the Nursery Handicap m hollow fashion. The chief results are:— NEW YEAR'S GIFT, £300; 7 furlongs. R. C. In a thrilling finish, up the straight Auto Buz won by one length and a quarter, with half a head between second and third. Time, 2min 30Jsec. Inver was unplaced in the Flying Welter Handicap. A SEVERE LOSS. • Trainer Jamie-son experienced a severe loss by the death today of the Chief .Ruler—Prestige colt Terangihiroa, who has been on the sick list for several days and cost 800 guineas as a yearling.
