COMING CONTESTS LOCAL REGATTA ON ANNIVERSARY DAY With die completion at Tauranga of the New Zealand Idle Along championship, the principal interest of the Dominion's yachtsmen will-be centred next week in the Cornwell Cup contest, . which will be sailed at the same port, beginning on Monday. After that there is a four weeks' gap until February 4, when the most important national sailing championship, the Sanders Cup contest, will be started at "Lyttelton, the port of the defending association. Locally there will be little of interest until the Anniversary Day regatta on January 22.
The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club's programme for January is as follows:— January 9.—Combined keelers' club handicap; alternate race for firstclass centreboarders. January 16.—-Alternate race for combined keelers; first-class centreboarders race for Moffat Cup; Idle Along handicap. January 22.—Anniversary Day. January 23.—Keeler race for ladies; inter-club cup race. January 30.—First-class centreboarders" race for Rose • Bowl; Idle Along handicap. The Evans Bay programme for January includes the following dates: — January 9.—Handicaps: Centreboarders; speed-boats. January 16.—Handicap: Keel yachts, Marangi Challenge Cup. Handicap: Launches, Felix Challenge Trophy. Handicaps: Centreboarders, T class. January 22.— Anniversary Day regatta. January 23.—Inter-club cup, 14ft centreboarders. Handicap: speed-boats. Januai-y 24.—Inter-club teams' race. I January' 30.—Handicap: Keel yachts, Commodore's Challenge Cup. Handicap: Launches, Newcombe Challenge Cup. Handicaps: Centreboarders, T class. January 31.—Limbless soldiers' picnic. Handicap: Speed-boats, Limbies' ! Cup.
