The Te Anau-Milford road has now been constructed as far as the Homer Tunnel, some 62 miles from the Tc Anau Hotel. Camping areas with facilities have .been provided at the Bluffs near the 30-mile peg, at Knobs Flat at the 40mile peg, at 43-mile flat, at Cascade Creek near the lower end of Lake Gunn at the 48-mile peg, and in the Upper Hollyford Valley near the 58mile peg. Sanitary conveniences and fireplaces have been provided at each of these five camping places, and camping elsewhere is prohibited. The Eglinton Valley as a rule enjoys better weather than does the Upper Hollyford, and motorists are recommended to make use of the camps at the 40mile, 43-mile, and 48-mile pegs. The Te Anau-Milford Sound highway is a magnificent scenic road, and a warning is issued to campers, where the fireplaces provided are not used, of the danger of lighting fires in or near the bush. Offenders in this respect will be prosecuted. Motorists wishing to camp must obtain tickets from the patrolman, who will patrol the road daily. A charge of 2s per night or 5s per week will be made, while 9d per day will be charged after the first week.
