STILL "DOWN UNDER"
AUSTRALIA'S POSITION (Received January 2, 10 a.m.). LONDON, January 1. "Feeble Australia," and "Australia's deplorable batting," are examples of the' posters with which the London evening papers hail the collapse. Mr.' H. A. H. Carson, in the "Evening News," says: "The batting was some of the worst ever witnessed in a match of such importance. The Australians, in attempting to achieve perfection, scarcely achieved mediocrity." The "Evening News" has a smart quip ''Australia still down under."
