AUSTRALIA'S BATTING NOT IMPRESSIVE

For the first time in the present series Australia won the toss when the third cricket Test against England commenced today. Expectations that Australia would capitalise the advantage ol having the first use of the wicket by hitting up a big score were not realised, and, when stumps were drawn, tie moderate total ot 181 runs had been compiled for the loss of six wickets. D. G. Bradman, Australia's captain and wonder batsman, was again dismissed very cheaply, giving a simple catch off the first ball sent down by e " There was a world's record attendance of 78,630, and the gate takings were £7126 6s 9d.
The teams are:— Aurtralto.-W. A. Brown, D. G. Bradman, J. H. Fingleton, S. J. McCabe, L. S. Darling, M. M. Sievers, L. O'B. Fleetwood-Smith, K. Rigg, W. A. Oldfield, W. J. O'Reilly, F. Ward. England.— G. O. Allen, L. E. G. Ames, C. J. Barnett, W. R. Hammond, J. Hardstafl, M. Leyland, R. W. V. Robins, J. M. Sims, H. Verity, W. Voce, T. S. Worthington. E. L. McCormlck and L. P. O'Brien were declared medically unfit for the Test, and were replaced by K. Rigg and M. M. Sievers in the Australian team.
