FIREBALL REPORTED
(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. A house and its occupants had a narrow escape from serious disaster yesterday afternoon when a fireball passed within a few feet of the building during a severe electrical storm which broke over the BunnythorpeAshhurst district. Mr. George Gore was visiting Mr. W. Greenhow, who lives on the Bunny-thorpe-Ashhurst road, and happened to be looking out of a window when he saw a ball of fire about two feet in diameter, travelling very fast about ten feet above the ground. There followed, within a few seconds, a deafening explosion, and the electric power lines leading into the house were severed and the fuses in the house were blown. The fireball had passed within ten feet of the building.
Describing the phenomenon, Mr. Gore said it was dazzling white and behind it there was a tarl, giving the whole an appearance not unlike a comet, and it gave out a sizzling sound. Animals on the farm were very disturbed.
