KELLY'S CLEAR WIN

AUCKLAND, December 20,
The professional boxing contest at the Town Hall on Saturday night 'between Deacon Leo Kelly, America, and Jack Eainsford, Australia, ended in a knock-out victory for Kelly in the 'eleventh round. The bout was fairly' interesting for the first five rounds, but after that Kelly was clearly .the master of the situation, and it was only a question of how long it would last.

For the second time Jack Jarvis, Elthanv retained the lightweight title on a, draw against challenges by. Clarrie Rayner, Blenheim, when they appeared this' afternoon in the first openair title bout staged in New Zealand, •larvis, 9sf 61b, was one pound lighter than, the. challenger. Fought in hot sunshine, the contest was hard and even, and characterised by much infighting. Both were exceedingly fast, Jarvis evidencing an improvement as a result, of his Australian trip. It was anyone's fight throughout, and the verdict was popular. In 'a professional preliminary Ralph Aitken,. Wellington, Rst GJlb, defeated Percy Rayner, Blenheim, 9st '91b, by a technical knock-out in the twelfth round,. after an open display, with Aitken superior.. .
