Major T. J. King arrived from Sy6> ney on the Awatea today after.a fiveweeks' visit to the principal cities of Australia, where he discussed with military experts mutual problems of defence, and inspected munition factories. His visit was made at the invitation of Sir Archdale Parkhill, Commonwealth, Minister of Defence, who was in this" country on defence, matters recently. ■ :

Professor J. K. Murray, of Bris-' bane, was a passenger by the Awatea from Sydney this morning. He is particularly interested in pastoral investigation, and is in New. Zealand at tha request of the Government. He plans to stay jiere about six weeks, and will attend the conference of the Australa-/

sian Association for the Advancement of Science, to be held in Auckland next month. Mrs. Murray, accompanies Professor Murray. . . . ■ .

Flight-Lieutenant A. de T. Nevill arrived from Sydney on the Awatea today to resume his work as staff officer to the Director of Air Services. During a long absence- in England Flight-Lieutenant.Nevill acted as.New Zealand liaison officer in London and completed a course- at the R.A.F: Staff College at Andover, being the first member of the New Zealand Forces to secure a pass there. He studied the latest development in aerial torpedo warfare at Gosport, and left England for home in the middle of October.
