PETONE CLUB
The Petone Rifle Club fired a further match counting for the third series, Burridge Cup, and Longfield Handicap Aggregate competitions at Trentham on Saturday. The day was&fine, the light being very bright, with a rear left breeze. Shooting conditions were not easy owing to the bright light causing elevation trouble.
There were thirteen scores which equalled or bettered the club standard of 46 for this range. The outstanding range scores were registered by J. 0. Devine, 49 and 49 (a second-year shot), who got a 4 for bis fifth and ninth shot in each shoot, a really creditable effort R. H. Nicholl, 49, with a 4 at the seventh shot; J. C. Braid, 47 and 47; P. Stewart, S. C. Higgins, W. H. Ballinger, T. F. Cooper, and-T. McNab, 47 each. The outstanding leading aggregates off the'rifle were made by J. C. Devine, 98 out of a possible of 100; R. H. Nicholl and J. Braid, 94 each; P. Stewart, 93; S. C. Higgins and W. H. Ballinger, 91 each. There will be no shooting next Saturday, but the shooting according to tho programme on January 2 will be a practice at 800 yards. Saturday's results are as follows:— 300 300 T_ „ . yds. yds. Hep.
