OUTBREAKS OF FIRE

Two calls to fires, neither of which was serious, were received by the Wellington Fire Brigade on Saturday. At 7.10 p.m. the brigade was called out to a fire in a five-roomed wooden house at 5 Tyne Street, Island Bay, occupied by Mr. A. Schon. The outbreak, which was caused by a cigarette butt, was extinguished by buckets of water without extensive damage being done.

At 9.18 p.m. the brigade received a call to a five-roomed house owned by Mr. R. M. Green and occupied by Mr. M. M. Murray at 23 Moir Street. Sparks from an open fire caused the outbreak, which damaged the room only slightly.
