BUSINESS IN COMMONS
(British Official Wireless.* (Received December 1, 11.15 a.m.) RUGBY, November 30. In the House of Commons today the business was the Committee stage of the Government's Trunk Roads Bill, the object of which is to transfer from the existing local authorities to the Minister of Transport the liabiliy for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of 4500 miles of roads constituting the national system of routes for through traffic. The annual cost of upkeep of these roads is estimated at £1,665,000. Tomorrow the Government proposes to ask the House to pass through all its stages the Bill making illegal the carriage of war materials to Spain in British ships. A motion for the rejection of the Bill will be moved on behalf of the Labour Opposition by Mr. Noel Baker.
