AUSTRALIAN PICTURE
PURCHASED FOR DUNEDIN
A Hans Heyften watercolour, at present being exhibited in the Australian collection at the National Gallery, has been purchased for the Dunedin Art Gallery at a price of 100 guineas. This is a painting entitled "Mount Samuel, Far North," and is a very fine example of Hans Heysen's virile work. Permission has been received from Sydney for this collection of Australian pictures to go to Wanganui and Auckland. Originally it had been stipulated that they should be returned to Australia by Christmas time, but an agreement has now been arrived ixx extending the time of their sojourn in New Zealand. They will be on exhibition in Wellington for only ten days longer, and the National Gallery will be opened specially on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, in addition to the usual day hours, in order to give the public every opportunity of seeing this unrivalled collection of Australian ,art.
