H.M.S. ACHILLES
SPEED TRIAL TOMORROW
(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. For the first time since her arrival in New Zealand waters, H.M.S. Achilles will undergo a speed test, on her passage from New Plymouth to Auckland. She is scheduled to reach Auckland at 11 o'clock tomorrow night. A speed trial is made every three months to test the efficiency of the engine-room, and tomorrow the cruiser will develop her full designed shaft horse-power of 72,000 for an hour. Her designed speed is 34i knots, which can be exceeded if desired. The entire complement will bo at battle stations, and the torpedo and gunnery crews \ will be exercised. ■ j
