PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL
, The meeting of the Petone' Borough I Council last evening was presided over iby the Mayor, Mr. A. Scholefield. The Air Force Band was granted permission to give a performance in thtf Recreation Ground on the afternoon of December 13 in aid of the funds of the Plunket Society. The use of the Recreation Ground on February 20 was granted to the Petone Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club for the provincial track championships. The Mayor and Councillors E. T. E. Hogg and G. London were appointed delegates at the conference of local bodies on December 10 to consider highway lighting. .. • ■ The request of the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College for leave to erect a flagpole on the boundary of the reserve opposite the front door of the new building was refused. The council decided to give the Petone Rugby Club permission to erect a gymnasium on land adjacent to tha fasworks yard, facing Bouverie Street, he area is 65 feet by 80 feet.
