KILLED ON BRIDGE
MAN CAUGHT BY FALLING CASE
LOAD BLOWN OVER IN GALE
A heavy southerly wind caused a fatal accident of; an exceptional kind on the Hutt Pipe Bridge about 9 o'clock this morriing, the victim being Robert Ritchie, an employee at the Railway Workshops.
A lorry, owned by Barton Ginger and Company, Ltd., loaded with two full motor-car cases, was crossing the bridge when K. was struck by a heavy gust of wind.-' and both the cases were blown off th<j vehicle. Mr. Ritchie was caught by one of the cases, and his head was crushed by it, causing instant death.1
The victim of the accident was a married rrurn with one child, living at 1 Aurora Street, Petone.
