The basis upon which wage rates fibouid be determined was a topic 'S'iscussod at the recent, meeting of t'ne Makara-Hutt Valley provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' UJnion. , The view was advanced that as the? farming industries of New Zealand are the basic industries, the rates of profit and remuneration in these industries should be the base of the other rates of wages in the Dominion, particularly as regards public works. It was considered this is the only sound economic course for New Zealand to take. A resolution on these lines was carried.
