CHRISTMAS CHEER
CO-ORDINATING MOVE
A meeting of the organisations which Will be engaged in handing out Christmas cheer was called by the Smith i'amily today, representatives of the following bodies being present:—Salvation Army, Wellington War Relief ■Association, Alms and Social Welfare branch of the Hospital Board, Returned Soldiers' AssociaUon. Red Cross, District Nursing Guild, Smith Family and Mayor's Metropolitan Relief Committee. Mrs. Fraser, wife of the Minister of Health (the Hon. P. Fraser) was amongst those present. The meeting went into the question of the administration of Christmas cheer, and it was decided- to prepare lists of beneficiaries which will be" sent to the Smith Family, to be compared to assure that there is no undesirable overlapping. The extent of cheer granted by each organisation was gone into, and an arrangement was come to by whioh every deserving person would receive an adequate Christmas hamper or an order for goods. In addition the principle of general relief was discussed, and it was generally agreed that quarterly meetings of representatives of the relief societies would be of great assistance.
