CHEAP GOODS
CORONATION SOUVENIRS
100" PER CENT. DUTY
(Received November 17, noon.)
LONDON, November 16. Fears that Britain would be swamped by cheap Coronation goods from Japan and other countries will be allayed by a Treasury announcement of a temporary total duty of 100 per cent, on all such articles, to be applied for six months as from December 15. The duty applies to all souvenirs bearing pictures of Royalty, crests, and similar Coronation designs, and also to flags and toys.
In view of the special circumstances, Germany and France are waiving their rights under trade agreements.
