FATAL INJURIES
VICTIM OF TRAM ACCIDENT

AUCKLAND, November 16. While running to catch a city-bound Iramcar which was travelling along Three King's Road, two elderly people were struck by a tram going in the opposite direction. James Given, aged 78, 'of Pollocks Settlement, suffered severe head injuries'and died shortly after admission to hospital. His sister, Miss Susan Given, aged 70, of Three Kings, was only slightly injured. Both Mr. and Miss Given were knocked to the ground, but Mr. Given received the full force of the impact. There was no other traffic besides the two trams at the time of the accident. Mr. Given had farmed in Pollock s Settlement all his life.
