PETONE RECREATION GROUND
The reserves committee recommended the Petone Borough Council last evening to adopt the principle of erecting a grandstand and improving the layout of the Petone Recreation Ground. The committee has instructed the assistant director of reserves to bring down a scheme. Councillor E. T. E. Hogg asked whether the schemes for beach beautifying and reserves improvement should not be considered together, as they would be a charge on next year's revenue. He favoured going ahead with the scheme for improving the baths.
The Mayor (Mr. A. Scholefield) remarked that the Loans Board would insist on the greens^eing improved out of revenue.
Councillor A. M. Macfarlane protested against the maintenance of the surface of the greens being neglected in the past.
The principle of the reserves com ; mittee's report was adopted.
