WEDDINGS
SKILTON—DARRAGH.
The wedding was solemnised at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Willis Street, recently, of Venus Myrtle, elder daughter of Mrs. E. Darragh, Brooklyn, to Raymond, son of Mrs. P. J. Gourley, Brooklyn. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Brian Kilroy, and Mr. Lawrence Haggitt was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by Mr. P. J. Gourley, wore a graceful gown of off-white angelskin lace over white satin, made on classical lines. The long tight sleeves and the bodice were trimmed with tiny crystal buttons, and a spray of orange blossom was worn on the circular collar. Her veil of tulle fell from a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of roses, white lilac, ' buttercup tulips, gold and white irises, and maidenhair fern. Mrs.. P. Darragh (sister-in:law of the bride) was matron of honour, and her frock was of ivory taffetas, slim fitting arid.flaring.from the knees. It had a pleated bodice ; and collar and long puffed '' sleeves. A ' coronet of silver .leaves! was in her hair, and she carried a. bouquet of gold and white
tulips and irises. A gold antique bracelet, the gift of the bridegroom, was also worn. . Mr. Allan Newton . was best man, and the ushers at the church were Mr. W. Pickering and Mr. C. T. Newton. During the signing of the register a solo was sung by Mrs. B. W. Gandell, and' on leaving the church, with its beautiful decorations of arum lilies and white; rhododendrons, the bride ;was presented with two lucky horseshoes by June Ridge and Zelma Dovey. A reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Gourley, Ohiro Road. Mrs. Gourley, assisted by Mrs. Darragh, received a large number of guests, wearing a striking frock of nigger-brown figured cloque \and a model hat of brown pedal straw which was trimmed with golden daisies.- She wore accessories, to match and carried a bouquet in.autumn tints. Mrs. Darragh was in a charming wine frock, with which she wore a cream leghorn hat. Her bouquet was of buff-coloured polyanthus. ■■'■■■ • ■■■'.*' . Mr. Harry Wilson, entertainer at the piano, kept the guests : well amused. Mr. Montague E. Nolan carried out the duties of , M.C., and enjoyable items were given by Mrs. Gandell, Misses J. and A. Nolan, and Mr. Nolan. . When Mr. and.Mrs. Skilton left for a tour of the North and South Islands, the bride was in a smart brown ensemble, brown bangkok straw hat, with brown accessories. She also wore a diamond dress ring, the gift of the bridegroom. . Mr. and Mrs.. Skilton's future home will be in Wanganui. Included among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. J. Gandell (grandparents of the bridegroom), Mr., Mrs., and Miss Leary (Taihape), Mr. and Mrs. Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Ridge, Mr. and Mrs. J Graham, Mr. anS Mrs. Bland, Mr. and Mrs. M. E.
