Fairhaven, Real Burton, and Ciro were among the first beaten in the Metliven Cup, but the two biggest disappointments of the race weiip the first and second favourites, Chechahco andj Pot Luck. Chechahco began smartly, and was well placed through the first mile, but approaching the mile-and-a-half post R. B. Berry had him under a stiff drive, and the gelding was. decisively beaten two furlongs from home. Pot Luck lost a lot of ground in the first furlong.
