LENGTHENING MIRAMAR

The sandy soil of Miramar has lent itself well to the mechanised methods adopted in remodelling the fourth and

fifth holes. In some places large hollows have been so deeply filled that it was not necessary to cut the lupins, which were merely buried. The present fourth, 209 yards, at which the wood was rarely used, only against a stiff southerly, will now be made 360, and extra length to 420 could be obtained by moving the tee. The fifth, now 295 yards, will be made from 330 to 340 yards, with a dog-leg. When these holes have been sown and brought into play there is under consideration a scheme for further lengthening the course by from 500 to 600 yards, but at present that is in the future.
