DAY'S EXTENSION
REQUEST BY MR. LUCAS
GUARANTEE FOR BOXER
SYDNEY, September 22. Mr. Charles Lucas today cabled Barney Ross's manager asking for an extension of time until 3 p.m. tomorrow to enable him to secure the remainder, of the guarantee to Ross for the proposed world title bout against Carroll. Mr. Lucas is confident he will get it A Sydney cable published yesterday stated that the promoter of the Barney Ross-Jack Carroll fight, Mr. Charles Lucas, had announced that unless he could raise £6500 by Tuesday the world welterweight championship fight fixed for December at Sydney would be cancelled. Mr. Lucas had, up to Monday, been able to raise only £7000 of the requiste £13,500 guarantee to Ross.
