July 16 for the 104 th annual meeting of the British Medical Association, saya the "Daily Telegraph." Proceedings were to continue until July 25, under the chairmanship of Sir 12. Farquhar Buzzard, the new; president. Among the subjects to be discussed, were:— A general medical service for th# whole nation, together with th* B.M.A.'s proposals for reorganisation of physical education and a national eye. service. ■ Extension of medical benefits undeif the National Insurance Act. , . Future of the voluntary hospitals. and a scheme to enable people ofl moderate means to have hospital treatment on an insurance basis. A national maternity service fog England and Wales, and : The representation of the medical! profession in Parliament and on local; authorities. . Among the specific diseases to be dis-. cussed by the twenty special sections into which the meeting was to h<a divided was nystagmus, the eye complaint which affects miners. Thet neurology section discussed loss oS memory, while physiologists hearcS papers on such subjects as bloodi pressure in cats, heart-block in pigeons* and dermatitis in rats. Cinema films were used to illustrate some of tha discussions. Only one of the sections was open! to the public. This was the medicosociological section, which dealt with the medical problems of school life, with special reference to homework, diet, and physical education.
