AUCKLAND HOSPITAL

A MANAGER-SECRETARY

LIKELY APPOINTMENT

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 22. The appointment of a managersecretary to have complete control of all activities of the Auckland Hospital, except the medical and nursing, at a salary of £1200 a year, is to be discussed at a special meeting of the Hospital Board next week. The appointment was suggested by the chairman, the Rev. W. C. Wood, at a special meeting held tonight to deal with a report on hospital administration made by Mr.. G. Grey Campbell, public accountant, and discussed at other special meetings recently. Other suggestions made by the chairman were that authority should be sought from the Government to enable the board to proceed with the erection of a surgical block and sana; torium and also an administrative block as the first portion of p five-year building plan, and that the board should advise the Government that it regards the building of two recovery hospitals, one in the north and one in the south of the hospital district, as essential features of the building plan. It was also suggested that the position of manager-secretary should \be advertised in New Zealand and Australia, and that the salary should rise to £1500 at the rate of £100 a year.
