MENT

The management committee of the Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis Sub-Associa-tion held its first meeting this season on Monday, Mr. G. Winter being elected chairman. The following sub-committees were appointed:—lnter-club, Messrs. H. G. Flux (convener), A. G. Smith, G. Winter, J. Annear, and G. Armstrong; tournaments, Messrs. A. G. Smith (convener), F. Stoupe, R. D. Smith, and W. E. Jarman; postponements, Messrs. A. G. Smith and H. G. Flux; ranking, Messrs. J. Charters (convener), J. Annear, and A. G. Smith; publicity, Mr. F. Stoupe. A lengthy discussion took place on ways and means of obtaining association courts, and a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. R. D. Smith and F. Stoupe was set up to bring down proposals. It was decided to proceed with a queen carnival in aid of the grounds fund. Messrs. R. D. Smith (organiser), F. Stoupe, J. Charters, and J. Annear were appointed a sub-committee-to arrange details with the clubs. It was decided to commence interclub matches on Saturday, October 31. Entries close on October 16. It was also decided to apply for the following tournament dates for the subassociation: —Labour Day, men's and women's singles; Anniversary Day, men's and women's doubles; Easter, combined doubles. j
