"NO GOOD PURPOSE"
CYCLE REGISTRATION
(Special to the "Evenino Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. A proposal by the Masterton County Council that a conference of. local authorities should be called to discuss the question of the registration _of bicycles was not favourably received at last night's meeting of the Masterton Borough Council. The county is to be advised that the borough does not think such action is warranted at the present time. The Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan) said that it was originally intended to make provision for the registration of bicycles in the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act. For some reason or other, however, it was omitted and the matter left to local bodies to deal with. The works and finance committee was of the opinion that no good purpose would be served by going through the business of registering bicycles, although the police had told him that it would assist in tracing stolen cycles.
