CHRISTMAS CHEER
SMITH FAMILY EFFORT , The Smith Family Das.. again arranged for a raffle to raise money for the Family's Christmas cheer fund, and on this occasion something for boys has been added to the prize list. The first prize is to be gold to. the value of £5; ten dressed dolls are provided for girls, and four large flying; model aeroplanes, three ornamental model aeroplanes, and one glider will be available for boys who win prizes. When the Family decided to offer model aeroplanes' as prizes' it was discovered that they : were difficult;, to procure. ; Suitable models ; could' hot be bought, and there-are no members;: of .the Family efficient in aeroplane construction. Someone suggested that : the Family should! ask the Wellington : Model Aero Club to fulfil its require- ■, ments, and when the matter, ..was placed before the, club a representa- * tive' of the Family was: invited to ' attend the; club .;meeting. When/, he - arrived the.room appeared to be full, of boys gathered around a large table, ~: he stated. On the table were partlyfinished sections, of aeroplanes , and the. whole place was a hive of indus-; try. r "Mr. Smith" stated the. need of the Family, and offers to donate aeroplanes ' were immediately made ,by members, of * the;, Mercury Club", the.;' Wellington Club, and the Model -Aero ■ Club. -The .; president .ot'thei. Beyin... Model Aero Club, "who «wasi. present? offered oh behalf" of his club, to .con- . struct two aeroplanes and donate onelarge one. These machines, with" the other prizes advertised, , will ,/be on public exhibition shortly. .. ;.
