N.R.A. MEETING PRIZE-MONEY OF £llOO The National Rifle Association of New Zealand will hold its annual prize meeting at Trentham, commencing on Friday, March 5, 1937, and finishing on Wednesday, March 10, when the grand final of the "King's" will be fired. The [total prize-money will be £llOO. Thursday, March' 4, will be set aside as a practice day for all competitors. The Somerville Range will be open from 9 a.m., at all ranges from 200 to 900 yards. The Allen Range will be open during the meeting to competitors for zeroing of their rifles. There will be the same arrangements as at the last meeting for the catering of competitors living in camp, and the canteen will be open daily. The reduced entry fee, £3, will again be tried out at this meeting.

An alteration has been made in the service matches for the meeting. They will be as follows: — No. 2 Match—Practice 1: 300 yds (deliberate), 2 compulsory sighters not to count, 5 rounds. Practice 2: 300 yds (snapshooting),'in the open, sighters none, 10 No. 3 Match.—Practice 1: 300 yds (rapid), one compulsory sighter not to count, 10 rounds. Practice 2: 300 yds (snapshooting), in the open, sighters none, 10 rounds. „„ , No. 4 Match.—Practice 1: 500 yds (deliberate), two compulsory sighters not to count, 10', rounds. Practice 2: 500 yds (snapshooting), in the open, sighters none, 10 rounds. The prize list for each individual service match is to be as follows:—One prize of £4, one prize of £3, one prize of £2, fifteen prizes of £l, sixteen prizes of 10s; 34 prizes of a total value of £32. ' .„ , The Service Championship will be open to highest 50 scorers in matches 2, 3 and 4. For the Service Championship final 26 prizes will be offered, valued at £25. The Service Championship and the three Service Matches will be completed on Saturday, March 6. Previously the three service matches were fired on the afternoon of the opening day and the service championship was fired in conjunction with the grand final. THE MAIN PROGRAMME. Matches in the main programme have been altered. They will be as follows:—Opening Match, 300, 500, 600 yards, 7 shots at each distance; Canterbury, 300 yards, 10-shot match; Otago, 300 and 500 yards, 10 shots at each distance; Hawke's Bay, 600 yards, 10-shot match; Wellington, 500 and 600 yards, 10 shots each distance; Taranaki, 800 yards, 10-shot match; Auckland, 800 and 900 yards, 10 shots each distance; Southland, 900 yards, 10-shot match. The prize list for each of the above matches will be:—A trade: One prize of £5, one prize of £4; two prizes of £3, four prizes of £2, 34 prizes of £l, 14 prizes of 10s; 56 prizes of a total value of £64. B grade: One prize of £3, two prizes of £2, six prizes of £l, six prizes of 10s; 15 prizes of a total value of £l6. The programme provides three aggregates, namely, Bisley, Trentham, and Australian. For the champion team match there are four men per team: The first prize is £l2 and there are four silver cups. The King's.—Open to the 50 highest scorers (previously open to the 40 highest scorers) in matches 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, B series; 40 prizes valued at £115; first prize £3O, gold medal, and miniature shield. < ' , At 300 yards the aiming mark nas been increased to 14 inches. At' 500 and 600 yards it has been increased to 28 inches. The bull's-eye (only) at 800 and 900 yards has been reduced from 36 inches to 30 inches. CLASSIFICATION. An alteration has been made in respect of the classification of competitors. All competitors who have been in the King's final, or who have won a single prize of more than £1 at any New Zealand championship, N.R.A., or State meeting in the last five competitions attended, service shooting excepted, will be eligible for the A grade. A B grade competitor is one who (a) has not obtained a place in the final fifty or in the>final forty as the case may be, in the last seven meetings of the association; or (b) has not won a prize in any of the association aggregates (service matches excepted) during the same period, or who has not won a prize of more than £2 at any N.R.A.
